An aspiring Porthleven beauty queen is vying for Packet readers support to help her enter the Miss Teen British Isles competition.

Lydia Anne Catherall, who dreams of starring at London Fashion Week, is in need of sponsors – even if it’s only for a few pence – to help her towards her goal of entering her first ever beauty pageant.

She said: “I’m really looking forward to it, especially as it’s taking place in Falmouth.

“I’m not really sure what to expect, but I hope I will go far.”

Lydia Anne, aged 16, started modelling last year and so far has had a lot of photoshoots with local photographers for her portfolio.

“I like to think I’m representing the models that don’t fit the specific mould for the industry, as I’m quite short and models tend to be rather tall,” she said.

“I want to show people that no matter how tall you are or what size you are, if you can look good in front of a camera you can be a model.”

Lydia Anne said winning the competition would motivate to carry on modelling, adding: “and it would make my family and friends so proud of me and that’s what I want to achieve.”

Miss Teen British Isles will be held over two days in Falmouth, from September 30.

The winner of the title will get the chance to travel to Fiji and compete in the Miss Teen World Supermodel Pageant, as well as winning a one-year contract with a London modelling agency.
