Penryn apple project to celebrate cider-making past

A new project in Penryn is trying to collect as many old apple-related photographs as possible to celebrate the town’s cider-producing history.

Chyan Community Field, at Halvasso, has launched the Apple History Project with the aim of creating a pictorial map, laying out Penryn’s once vibrant industry of supplying cider to ships.

The team behind the project are appealing for photographs of artefacts, machinery, remaining orchards and trees. They would also like to speak to anyone who remembers the industry before it all but disappeared.

Photos or memories can be shared with the project by contacting Chyan on 01326 377447 or e-mail info@chyan.org.uk
