An online TV channel dedicated to all things Cornish is launching on Sky and Freesat.

The launch of The Cornwall Channel on Monday, October 1 will make it the first county-based TV channel to broadcast to over 14 million homes across the UK and Europe.

The dedicated Cornish micro-channel will launch at 9pm on Sky channel 212 and Freesat 401, and will feature two hours of dedicated Cornish programming including all the latest news and events, Cornish cookery, the surf report, local music and sport, as well as a trip to the Scilly Isles and a few surprise guests.

Founder Shane Solomon, who launched the Cornwall Channel online three years ago, said: “We’re thrilled that the Cornwall Channel is launching on Sky and Freesat.

“Cornwall has so much going on and we can’t wait to showcase the best of the county to so many people. We’ll also be discussing the issues facing the county, helping Cornish businesses reach their audiences and discovering some of Cornwall’s hidden gems.”

She encouraged people to visit the website www.cornwallchannel.co.uk to give their feedback and ideas. The Cornwall Channel will air on every Monday from 9pm until 10pm.
