'Endless Summer' swimming race to take place on Sunday
1:00pm Wednesday 26th September 2012 in News
The annual Endless Summer Swim is returning to Gyllyngvase Beach this weekend, to raise funds for the Gyllyngvase Surf Life Saving and Triathlon Club.
Now in its fifth year, the open water swim covers roughly 800 metres for adults and juniors, aged 13 to 17, with a 500 metre race for the “nippers”, aged seven to twelve.
Taking place on Sunday from 11am for the nippers and noon for the adults and juniors, each entrant is required to raise a minimum of £5 sponsorship to take part, which will go towards sourcing new club equipment.
Registration is open an hour before each race begins and the event is open to all, whether swimming competitively or just for the challenge.
Every competitor receives a t-shirt and a bottle of water and there are prizes for the winners of each category, with a special prize for the swimmer with the most sponsorship.
There will also be a raffle on the beach, raising additional funds for the club.
