Cycling challenge issued to all

Children's charity Action Medical Research is inviting all cycling enthusiasts to sign up for the ultimate British cycling challenge, pedalling from Lands End to John O'Groats in August next year.

The event in May 2012 raised over £230,000 for the charity.

Cyclists riding the 1,000-mile UK End2End challenge from 16 to 26 August 2013 will spend between eight and nine hours in the saddle travelling around 100 miles a day for nine days solid.

Emma Bazely, Challenge Events Fundraiser Action Medical Research says: “This is your chance to sign up for an iconic event, the ultimate in biking challenges!

“It's your chance to push yourself to the limit in an exciting, well-supported and unforgettable experience, and all for a good cause. We want this year's event to be bigger, better and more competitive than ever so do join us.”

Cyclists participating in the UK End2End ride will be raising money to help fund medical research into conditions affecting babies and children.

Action Medical Research is celebrating its 60th anniversary in 2012 and since 1952 has spent more than £100 million on research that has helped save thousands of children's lives and changed many more.

The charity is currently supporting work around meningitis, epilepsy, cerebral palsy, premature birth, and some very rare conditions that severely affect children.
