A chance to sing with Paul West

One of the county’s best-known singers, Newquay-born tenor Paul Martyn-West, will be leading a workshop in the chapel at Truro School on Saturday.

Vivaldi’s Gloria and parts of Schubert’s Mass in G, both wonderful pieces to sing, will be learned during the day and performed.

Paul, pictured, is a graduate of both the Guildhall School of Music and Drama and the Royal Academy of Music. His main work is as a recitalist and tenor soloist throughout the country, including many performances in his native Cornwall, with an extensive vocal training and teaching practice in London.

He is part of Singingworks which sets up and runs weekly business and community choirs, and one-off events, that encourage team-building and voice training through hard-working yet enjoyable sessions.

Paul’s individual style, sense of humour and engaging form of musicianship will make for an enjoyable day, discovering music from the point of view of an experienced musician and singer rather than that of a choirmaster. Singers are invited to register in advance.

Further details are available at www.trurochoralsociety.co.uk or from Cherry Sheppard on 01637 874964. Members of the public are invited to the 5pm performance for which no ticket is required but donations are requested.
