Leading veterinary charity PDSA is appealing for animal lovers to help out at its Truro store to raise vital funds for sick and injured pets.

Store manager Sally Toms said: “We're looking for enthusiastic volunteers who are passionate about pets.

“Volunteering for PDSA is fun and the skills one learns look great on any CV, plus one gets to meet new people and make some friends along the way. No previous retail experience is needed as full training is provided for all volunteers.”

Emily Pothecary, 32, who has a golden retriever called Buddy and volunteers at the Truro store, said: “I began volunteering for several reasons. I had just moved to Cornwall and thought it would be a great way to make new friends. I was scared and excited when I arrived the first time, but as soon as I went in everyone was really nice. Volunteering has now meant I have more confidence. I am willing to try new things and I appreciate things more. I feel like I can make a difference regardless of how small that difference may seem to me.”
