Five day weather warning issued for Cornwall Five day weather warning issued for Cornwall

weather warnings have been issued for Cornwall for the next five days, with periods of heavy rain set to affect the whole of the south west from tonight.

The yellow warnings have been issued by national weather forecasters at the Met Office.

The warnings state: "Heavy rain is likely to move eastwards across southwest England this evening. With the ground already being almost saturated, the public should be aware of the risk of localised surface water flooding.

"Periods of heavy rain are likely across the southern half of Wales, southwest England and the southwest Midlands from the beginning of Friday until Saturday morning.

"It is looking increasingly likely that one area of heavy rain will move through during the small hours of Friday followed by a drier interlude, before further heavy, persistent rain moves eastwards later on Friday into the early hours of Saturday. "However there still remains considerable uncertainty in the details of the heavy rain by late Friday and the warning may be adjusted further as the event approaches."

The warning is also in place for Sunday and Monday, with a more detailed forecast expected tomorrow.

I like the picture, it highlights just how useless some of the bus shelters are in the wind and rain.

never understand why there is a huge gap all the way round the bottom of the shelters ,breezy round ankles. here we go again yet another bad spell of weather on the way, used to say roll on summer but even that was practically non existent this year.

Totally correct. I particularly like the one at Helson Sainsbury's. About as much use as sheltering under a paper bag in bad weather.

Used to love waiting for my bus to come in and take over totally soaked through to the bone. Made for a lovely days driving in wet clothes.

I have been told Cornwall Council are going to install eco bus shelters all over the county, whatever they are. Trouble is, I was also told that Father Christmas exists.

Hi Gill apparently the trolley shelters at the supermarket are eco design shelters so perhaps the bus shelters will be the same.

Oh that's good meerkats we can all be stacked up in a queue like a trolley. I used to wait in a trolley shelter at Camborne anyway because it was drier, while I was waiting for a bus I mean.

they certainly are drier than the present bus shelters ,but its quite sad that supermarkets use better shelters for their trolleys than bus companies provide for people. Be interesting to see if and when it happens what the new shelters will be like.
