Fundraising 'Late Summer Soiree' success

Although not the first joint fundraising event between Garras Primary School and Garras Owlets Pre-school the success of the Late Summer Soiree was noteworthy.
Hosted by the pre-school committee and FROGS (Friends and Relatives of Garras School), the event at Gweek Village Hall drew over 150 people and raised a total of £1,200, which was split equally between the two committees.
Families were welcomed by a considerable amount of homemade tangy vegetable and carrot and orange soup, rolls and pasties provided by local businesses Vicky's Bread and Gear Farm, as well as generous mums Sam Reed and Olivia White. There was music from live band Jonahs Lift and an auction also run on the day made £700 alone.
The committee has been left thrilled with this figure and thanked everyone who donated items and made bids.
Such an event required careful planning, and FROGS chairman Ali Rand praised all those who took part in the organising including Owlets management committee chairman Lucy Green, Olivia White, Nicola Andrews, Anna Benney, Johanna Nicholas, Maria Croker-Baldwin, Pippa Summers, Kristin Pryor, Sam Reed and Justin Walsh-Newton. Julian Rand was MC for the night.
Mrs Rand said: “Another big thank you for all the homemade cakes donated by so many mums and to everyone who helped set the hall up in the morning and clear it up at the end - we thank you all.”
