Organisers of a brand new arts festival set to grace Penryn next year are calling on creative contributors to apply for funds.
Up to £500 per project is up for grabs from the Penryn Arts Festival committee for every kind of creative art from performance, to music, to gallery exhibitions.
Each project must prove that it can engage the community during and after the festival, create links with other artists, engage students and graduates from the university, showcase local creativeness or use the town assets and unused locations.
Any proposal that meets one or more of these aims will be considered and those seeking smaller amounts of funding stand a greater chance of being accepted, organisers said.
In addition to this “small innovative projects” fund, the committee is also seeking a “socially engaged” and “community focused” artist who will “respond to communities in Penryn.”
The successful applicant for this role will receive a budget of £2,000 to organise and deliver their work with the possibility of extra funding depending on the project.
A permanent work of public art is also planned for the festival, which must reflect the history, present or future of Penryn “and/or relate to its geography and culture in an innovative and engaging way.”
The winning bid for this piece will be awarded a budget of £1,000 to £2,000, with further funding again a possibility.
Application forms are available online at http://penrynartsfestival.tumblr.com or from the town council offices in Saracen House on Higher Market Street. The deadline for submission is November 30.
