A new book to help support and inspire communities to develop a local children’s play area has been created in partnership with the Sensory Trust.
The book, called Out to Play Cornwall, contains practical advice, creative ideas and inspiring examples of children’s play facilities already developed in Cornwall.
It is available in hard copy or as a download and is offered completely free. The book was produced as a joint project between Cornwall Council and the Sensory Trust and has been endorsed by child development expert Sue Palmer.
Author of Toxic Childhood, Sue is a well known writer, public speaker and presenter on primary literacy and child development in the modern World. She said: “I wrote Toxic Childhood while living in Cornwall and am thrilled to see what brilliant work is going on there in terms of encouraging and developing play.”
Out to Play Cornwall is available through the Council’s Family Information Services, at www.cornwallfisdirectory.org.uk, by calling 0800 587 8191 or 01872 323535 or emailing fis@cornwall.gov.uk
