A CONSTANTINE dental practice manager has returned from an epic 3,600 mile journey across Europe in an old banger – having raised nearly £1,000 for the Children’s Hospice South West charity.
Alex Vining was joined by Oak House Dental Practice’s dentist, Andrew Ridout, pictured, on the Staples to Naples Banger Rally during August bank holiday weekend.
They managed to drive from Calais to the southern tip of Italy in just four days – with only one call to the break down services after the keys of the car were accidentally locked in the boot.
Alex said: “We set off from Calais on August 24 with 110 other rally teams. “The atmosphere was fantastic and it was great to see the other ‘bangers’ taking part in the rally alongside our faithful 1993 Rover 216 convertible.”
Andrew said: “The car rally was a great experience and raising nearly £1,000 for the Children’s Hospice South West in the process is a fantastic achievement. We’re very grateful to everyone who has supported and sponsored us.”
