Apprentices could soon be working with Helston's town centre manager and the Business Improvement Partnership on future projects in the town.
Town manager Jonathan Birkett confirmed the office was looking into apprenticeship schemes, although this was still only at the discussion stage.
In his report to Helston Town Council tomorrow, Mr Birkett will tell members he is finalising a plan to use apprenticeships and a full proposal will follow.
Mr Birkett told the Packet: “It's very early stages. It's about using 18 to 24-year-olds for 12-month periods at a time, to get in-house training and develop their skills while they learn on the job.”
He hoped that if the scheme came about it would involve young people living in Helston. Mr Birkett added that the scheme was “quite heavily subsidised” and “nowhere near as expensive” as taking on a new member of staff.
