FALMOUTH’S top police officer has welcomed the latest “promising” crime figures for the town.
In a report prepared for a meeting of Falmouth Town Council on Monday evening, Inspector Mark Richards said things were going in the right direction.
He wrote: “Despite on-going cuts to funding and resources, Falmouth police are happy to report promising performance figures so far this year.
“Reported crimes for offences of violence with injury are down by six per cent.
“House burglaries have dropped by almost 40 per cent and total crime has dropped by 1.7 per cent.
“There have been increases seen in burglaries at commercial premises (up seven per cent) and noticeably in vehicle crime (up 28 per cent).”
