UPDATE 13:45pm

Devon and Cornwall Police have confirmed that the 'suspicious package' was in fact a camera inside a plastic lunch box.

A spokesperson for the police said: "It is a false alarm with good intent.

"The officers are just wating for bomb disposal to clear up their kit and will be re-opening the street as soon as possible."

UPDATE 12.50pm

A police spokesperson has confirmed that a 100 metre cordon has been set up around NatWest bank on Saint Nicholas Street following reports of a 'suspicious package' at 10.10am this morning.

Traffic and pedestrians are being advised to avoid the area for the time being.

The bomb disposal team are now using a remote-controlled 'wheelbarrow' robot to inspect the 'suspicious package'.

Royal Navy bomb disposal experts are now on site to deal with the 'suspicious package' at a branch of NatWest.

UPDATE 11.45am

The discovery of a suspicious package in Truro city centre has closed off one of the main streets.

Police officers wearing protective clothing are now searching businesses in Boscawen Street.

The police helicopter is also circling overhead. 

It is understood the package has been left at a branch of NatWest on Saint Nicholas Street.

This has led to a large section of the city being cordoned off. It is expected to stay closed for at least two hours.

Bit more than a smoke device or flare at Kennack Sands I think due to fact another bomb disposal vehicle has been escorted down to the seen by the original 2 police escort vehicles
