TABLES and chairs are set to appear outside a Killigrew Street coffee shop after town planners granted permission for the new seating at a meeting this week.
Councillor Steve Eva addressed the meeting of Falmouth Town Council’s planning committee to support the plans submitted by the Hula Coffee Company.
He said: “The application has gone in to provide tables and chairs outside the cafe.
“I have spoken to Highways and they are in support of the plan providing there is 1.4 metres clear on the pavement for people to around, and there are actually more than two metres clear.
“There is no reason not to give this company the chance to run a decent cafe and to attract people into the town.”
Councillor Charlie Choak told the meeting: “I cannot see any reason to object to this, everyone else is doing it.”
Councillors voted unanimously to support the plans, which will now go before Cornwall Council for final approval.
