Coverack Art Club marks 40th year
To mark Coverack Art Club’s 40th anniversary more than 40 members, friends and helpers gathered together for an evening full of laughter and memory sharing.
Chairman Dee May welcomed everyone with a few words, telling those gathered: “I think you will all agree that our exhibition this year continued to show the high standards of which our club is noted.”
The chairman then handed over to Maureen Davie, one of the few remaining founder members. Maureen explained how the club started as an evening educational class, through a council-run further education scheme. When this ended people wanted to carry on with their new hobby, so Coverack Art Club was formed.
Maureen added: “And here we all are today, 40 years on, and the club is still flourishing, of which I am delighted.”
She was given the honour of cutting a celebration cake, which was shared with everyone there. Members had also brought with them a selection of other tasty treats, which were enjoyed over much laughter and reminiscing.
