After more than 15 years running the sports and school uniform shop at the bottom of the High Street in Falmouth, Mike and Tracey Christopher have decided the time has come to explore new pastures.

They have handed over the keys to the new owners Cath Horton and Teresa McCormack who are looking forward to taking on the challenge of running the business.

Mike and Tracey took over the business, formerly known as Mike Hodges Sports, back in 2002 after Mike retired from the Royal Navy where he was based at RNAS Culdrose with 771 Squadron. Since then, they have grown the uniform and team-wear side of the business and 12 months ago they expanded into larger shop premises on the opposite side of High Street.

The shop currently stocks uniform for Falmouth School and four of the local primary schools as well as supplying team-wear to Falmouth and Penryn rugby clubs and Truro College.

The new owners have been friends for many years and had often talked about working together. Teresa said: “The opportunity to take over the business came about following a casual conversation with Mike in the shop one day. Cath and I are both keen runners and our families are involved in lots of different sports so the idea of taking over the shop really caught our interest.

"It’s a great little business and we’ve been amazed to discover the range of different sports clothing and equipment that’s currently stocked in the shop.”

The business partners are keen to continue developing the business and will soon be launching their new website and online shop so customers can buy their school uniform from the comfort of their own home at mcsportsfalmouth.co.uk. They are also keen to hear from any local sports clubs, schools and other organisations that would be interested in sourcing new sports kit or uniform.
