Pirate FM has launched a new sister station, playing music from the 1970s across Cornwall and Plymouth.

Pirate 70s is available on DAB digital radio, through the Pirate FM website and the station’s free app. Playing the greatest songs from the 70s and more, Pirate 70s will feature artists including ABBA, David Bowie, Queen and Elton John.

Content director at Pirate FM, Tristan Hunkin, said: “Pirate FM already reaches more listeners than any other local station in our area every week. But we constantly listen to what our audience tells us they like and dislike. They’ve asked for more of artists such as Marvin Gaye, Rolling Stones and Queen. So now we’re launching a new radio station offering just that – and nothing but that.

“Pirate 70s will be aimed at all ages. We believe great music is great music whenever it was made and it’s no surprise more and more younger people are discovering classic songs that were recorded long before they were born. Pirate 70s will be a journey of discovery as much as a trip down memory lane.”
