Falmouth-based womenswear brand, Seasalt, is to launch its limited edition charity shopper bag, which will raise money for the Mermaid Centre, the Royal Cornwall Hospital’s breast cancer unit.

The design features a mermaid to reflect the centre’s name and was created by one of Seasalt’s in-house artists at their design studios in Falmouth. All profits from each bag sold will go directly to the charity.

Sophie Chadwick, Seasalt co-founder and senior print designer, said: “My friends and I have benefitted from the amazing services that the Mermaid Centre offers on several occasions. They provide an amazing, kind and efficient service, and it is an incredible asset for all of us in Cornwall. We are very pleased to be able to support in small way, and urge everyone to buy one of our beautiful fundraising bags.”

Karren Murrish, fundraising manager for the Royal Cornwall Hospitals Charity, said: “It’s fantastic to have the support of Seasalt for the Mermaid Centre. We hope that people from across Cornwall and beyond will buy a shopper in support of the centre which provides breast care to more than 12,000 patients in the county every year.

"The work of the Mermaid Centre team has had an impact on so many lives across Cornwall and this is a unique way to give support to the centre into the future. The striking design on the bags has been so thoughtfully put together and makes a really meaningful connection between the Mermaid Centre and Seasalt. Thank you to everyone at Seasalt for your support and to each and every person that purchases a bag in support.”

The bag will be on sale in Seasalt’s shops in Falmouth, Truro, Padstow, Fowey, St Ives and Penzance at the beginning of February, priced at £5 each or two for £8.
