Camborne Park Football Club players will be raciing up and down Carn Brea next Sunday to help raise funds for ShelterBox.
The team members will be taking part in the Shelterbox Carn Brea Everest Challenge for the fourth time and say they are going all out to break all previous records, including money raised and personal bests.
Camborne Park manager David Spencer said: "Shelterbox provides emergency shelter and vital supplies to support communities around the world overwhelmed by disaster and humanitarian crisis. So it’s great for our club to be able to help in whatever way we can’.
Wearing a smart kit sponsored by Steve’s Tattoos of Newquay, team members will be carrying actual Shelterboxes up and down Carn Brea. The height of Mt Everest is 8,840m, and while a single ascent of Carn Brea from Tregajorran village is 82m, Camborne Park players aim to carry the ShelterBoxes on as many ascents as they can. Each 82m circuit is about 2km in distance.
SDavid said: "Combining all the Team’s efforts we hope to achieve at least 45 box ascents, the equivalent to ascending Mount Everest from Base Camp.
