From St Agnes beacon to Biarritz the cry has gone out to prepare to make the pilgrimage to Chapel Porth for the World Bellyboard Championships on Sunday.

The 12th annual event will showcase the very best in prone wooden construction surf craft, vintage swimwear, mastery and disastery of wave riding prowess.

Organised and hosted by the National Trust, the event is attended by enthusiasts and curious onlookers in their hundreds, as well as brave wave riders of all ages and abilities.

Bill Makin from the National Trust, said: "We are delighted to welcome visitors old and new to take part in this unique event at one of the most beautiful beaches in Cornwall (and therefore the world !)

"The Trust's sensitive management of Chapel Porth for over 50 years has allowed it to retain the raw unspoilt beauty that has attracted ply riders since the early days of the sport.

Our Mid Cornwall team, based in St Agnes, will be pulling out all the stops alongside collectors, craftsmen, makers, shapers and contributors to make this small part of Cornwall the centre of the bellyboarding world on September7."

Parking: 
There will be a free shuttle bus to Chapel Porth. The only bus pick up from the village library car park is at 8.00am. The shuttle bus is then available from Wheal Coates car park and later from St.Agnes Head. Please note the private car park at the top of Chapel Porth hill will be open (charge applies).

The shuttle journey will take up to 15 minutes from St.Agnes Head to Chapel Porth beach via Wheal Coates car park. There will be return journeys available in the afternoon.
