Five Cornish male voice choirs have gathered in Redruth to raise £2,500 for the Fishermen’s Mission.
The concert at Redruth Methodist Church was organised by Stephen Lawry, musical director of Mousehole Male Voice Choir, who was moved to do something to support the mission following last winter’s storms and the fishing industry’s long road back to recovery.
It was compared by the Rev Julyan Drew and featured the singing of Mevagissey Male Choir, Mousehole Male Voice Choir, Nankersey Male Choir, Newquay Male Voice Choir and the Polperro Fishermen’s Choir, representing the full range of fishing activity in the county.
As result £2,500 has now been presented to the Fishermen’s Mission.
Superintendent Keith Dickson said: “It was fantastic to see a passionate group of individuals who were prepared to give their time and talents to support Cornish fishermen and their families.”
