Customers of Carn Brea Leisure Centre, in Pool are in the pink thanks to a special fundraising event  to raise money for Breast Cancer Campaign.

The ‘Big Pink Weekend’ from Friday to Sunday was organised to promote Breast Cancer Awareness Month and featured a variety of activities all with a pink theme.

Kicking the weekend off in true style, customers made donations to participate in the Centre’s pink studio fitness classes and showed their support with a ‘Bras Out for Breast Cancer’ dress code.

Meanwhile every member of staff donated £1 to don pink attire as the Centre became flooded with pink balloons.

Other activities organised included a special pink quiz night, complete with sparkly pink cupcakes made on-site by Carn Brea’s Café Team.

A total of £406.92 was raised over the weekend, which will be donated in full to Breast Cancer Campaign. This included £76 donated by 14 year-old Katie Broad, who made the money making and selling loom bands.

Lucia Farrance, a representative for Breast Cancer Campaign, said “Breast Cancer Campaign would like to thank everyone at Carn Brea for all their hard work fundraising for us. Their fantastic total of £406.92 will help us to continue to fund our world leading breast cancer research that saves lives.”

Amelia Blackford, Carn Brea’s gym and studio manager, added “As a Charitable Trust and Social Enterprise, it’s great for us to be able to help other very deserving charities.”

"Our staff and customers have been amazing, as always, and have helped to make this another really successful event.”
