The UKIP candidate standing for election as Redruth and Camborne's MP has been removed from the race and could be facing jail after admitting 'appalling' animal cruelty charges.
The seat was listed as one that the party had an outside chance of winning, with incumbent George Eustice winning at the last election from the Lib Dems by only 66 votes.
Farmer, David Evans, 71, of Week St Mary, admitted six animal welfare charges at a hearing at Bodmin Magistrates Court on Monday.
The neglect and cruelty saw as many as 200 sheep having to be put down, with over 140 sheep found dead on Evan's farm following a visit by a vet, health inspectors and police officers
UKIP told the BBC there was "no way he would've been selected" if they had known.
Evans admitted failing to dispose of the carcasses of 119 sheep containing "specified risk material", causing unnecessary suffering to sheep and failing to ensure the welfare of sheep, failing to provide clean, dry bedding.
The case was adjourned until 4 December and Evans was granted unconditional bail.
