The Met Office has upgraded a weather warning to 'amber' due to forecast strong winds.
A spokesman said that a short spell of very strong winds will move north during this morning and early afternoon with severe gales and gusts of 75 mph.
Adding: "The public should be prepared for disruption to transport and for possible damage to trees and buildings."

Southerly gales are expected to affect the warning area during Thursday as a small low pressure centre moves north generating an area of severe gales within its circulation.
Gusts of 50-60 mph are possible inland and as much as 75 mph along exposed coasts. A short spell of heavy rain, is also likely in these western areas during Thursday.
The strongest winds are likely to affect south facing coasts and hills.
A yellow warning of heavy rain is also in place.
The weather warnings also apply to Friday and Saturday, with a developing frontal system expected to bring another period of persistent and at times heavy rain.
The rain is likely to be accompanied by strong and gusty winds. As the rain clears, heavy, possibly thundery showers are likely to follow later on Friday and during Saturday.
