Fifty food parcels have been handed out this Christmas thanks to the efforts of Camborne Redruth & District Lions Club and generous shoppers.

Club members held the annual food collection at Tesco Camborne on December 8, 9 and 10, handing out leaflets asking customers to donate food so that the Lions could make food parcels for those less fortunate this Christmas.

Lion President Paul Bray said: "The response from the Camborne Tesco customers was overwhelming, but not surprising, because Cornish people are always generous, especially at Christmas time.

The food donated and £242 cash collected allowed the Lions to make up and deliver 50 food parcels. The surplus food was donated to the Camborne Food Bank.

Mr Bray added that he would like to thank all the Tesco Customers who donated and a special thank you to Tesco for allowing the Lions to hold their collection at the Camborne Supermarket.
