Former classmates at Camborne Technical College have rekindled old friendships after reuniting over 50 years since they left college.

In August 2014 three former students of Camborne Technical College, Joss Bray, Mike Sandercock and Greg Mannell for the first time in 54 years. They started at the college in January 1960, on a O level course.

The mini re-union, at the Sportsmans Arms, Four Lanes, was a great success and all made the decision to locate the remaining 14 other classmates.

Joss Bray said: "After three months, Mike and Joss had located another eleven course members and a re-union was arranged for Friday 2nd January 2015. Leueen Hill (Jenkins) came from County Clare, Ireland, a journey that involved taxi, bus and a flight from Dublin to Bristol, where Leueen hired a car, to drive to her accommodation, at St Austell. Kathryn Penberthy came from Nottingham and everyone met at the Sportsmans Arms, where a excellent buffet had been arranged.

"There was much to discuss, when the college photos appeared and the memories came flooding back. What had happened in the intervening 50 plus years, the teachers, the careers, the travel, were all topical subjects. Kath said she was amazed at the variety and level of occupations represented and thought our lecturers would have been proud."

Mike Bolitho, who lives in Australia, will be coming home in April, for a holiday, and is looking forward to meeting some of his former classmates.

A annual event is now planned but in the meantime the search continues, with Mike Sandercock 01840-261715 and Joss Bray 01326-574917 still keen to locate Diane Pearce ( Mevagissey ) and Albert Curtis ( St. Austell ).
