A group which delivers books to people unable to get to the library is calling for new volunteers, as well as looking for more clients.

The Royal Voluntary Service, based in Redruth, has said any bibliophiles who have a disability, poor health or caring responsibilities that prevent them from getting out and about could benefit from the home library service which it runs.

The service has a group of volunteer drivers who are happy to deliver and collect library books, totally free of charge. If a client wishes, they will also stay for a chat or even arrange transport so they can select their own books.

Jude Mather, Redruth volunteer home library co-ordinator, said: "All our drivers are fully police checked and trained to work with vulnerable people.

"We are, of course, always looking for new volunteers who can spare as little as two hours a month, so if anyone out there feels they could be a volunteer we would be delighted to hear from them."
