Police have released the names of the man and woman who died in a collision near St Agnes in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Calvin Trevena and Ann Varran, both aged 51 years and from Redruth, were killed at around 3.20am while walking along the B3277 between Chiverton Cross Ropundabout and St Agnes.

Police were called to the scene, and found a damaged white S4 Audi Estate, with the bodies nearby.

A 26-year-old man from Redruth and a 27-year-old man from Hayle were arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. They have both been released on bail until December 1.

A police spokesman said: “We are investigating the circumstance surrounding the death of these two people, and we are keeping an open mind.

"We are keen to speak to anyone who was in the area at the time, especially if you saw either of the two walkers on the road from St Agnes towards the A30 prior to the collision, or a white S4 Audi Estate during this time as you could hold vital information."

Witnesses should call the police on 101 quoting police log 208 of August 2.
