The Camborne Redruth and District Lions Club joined forces, once again, with Big Sue’s (Sue Shepherd) Darts League to raise some money to donate to Cornwall Blood Bikes by holding a "doubles" darts marathon.
Seven participating teams took part in a sponsored doubles' marathon at Blaythorne Sports Club, adjudicated by the Lions, resulting in raising a magnificent sponsorship total of £790. On Friday, August 8, the Lions and the Darts League held a presentation evening where Lions president Derek Canham along with Sue Shepherd presented a £1,000 cheque to Royston Collins from the Cornwall Blood Bikes.
Derek also presented shields, medals and certificates to the Holman’s Team for the highest team sponsorship of £291,11 and the combined team from the Coppice and Albany C for most doubles scored (464) during the marathon. All participating teams, Coppice, Holmans, Albany A, Albany B, Albany C, Greenroom A, and Greenroom B received a Lions' appreciation certificate.
