Camborne Science and International Academy is once again celebrating magnificent A-level results, with a 100 per cent pass rate across its range of 23 A-level courses.

Sixty-one per cent of grades were A*-B grades or equivalent and students achieved 71 per cent A*-B in science A-levels. In the vocational subjects, the average grade achieved was above a distinction.

“This is a reward for the tremendous hard work put in by students and staff, plus excellent family support,” said Ian Kenworthy, principal at CSIA. “Our priority here at the academy is to work together to ensure our students thrive and flourish, and these results demonstrate our success.”

The academy is delighted with many excellent individual A-level results including Georgina James, who is going to St Edmund Hall College, Oxford University, to read biomedical sciences having achieved an A*, A and A. She said: “I was very nervous about today and at the moment I’m trying to let it all sink in. I’m so pleased with my marks and excited about the next chapter when I go off to Oxford.”

Students Alastair Pirrie and Joe Nurse are both going to Exeter University to read mathematics after gaining one A*, six As and one B between them. Kyle McQuillam, who received four As, will be going to King’s College London to study biomedical sciences. He said: “I’m really proud of my results, my plan now is to enjoy the summer with my friends and family after all the hard work.”

Vice principal, Sarah Belshaw, praised the work ethic of all VI Form students. “Our aim is not just to prepare them for exams and university, but also for the real world and employment. Our students graduate from CSIA as resilient, hard-working, well-rounded and aspiring individuals.”

Students hugged and cheered as they opened their results envelopes, with staff sharing in their celebrations. Ian said the grades achieved at the academy were a reflection of the sheer commitment of both staff and students.

“These results are confirmation of our outstanding VI Form, offering exceptional teaching and a learning environment which supports every student to achieve their potential,” he said. “What is most important is the fantastic contribution these young people make to the world around them and we wish them all the best for the future.”

Some other high achievers with excellent A-level grades include: Michael Wong, A*, B, distinction - going on to read civil engineering at Coventry University and Gurpal Singh, A, B, B - going on to read mechanical engineering at Coventry University. CSIA also saw fantastic student success in the vocational subjects, including Amy Jolly, who achieved three distinction* grades and one distinction, and has secured an apprenticeship in sport.

Ian also said how delighted he was for CSIA’s year 12 students, who achieved outstanding AS results.

“The AS results were particularly pleasing this year and we look forward to welcoming these students back to CSIA in September," he said. "With such good grades behind them, we are expecting great things.”

Year 12 high achieving AS students include: Jessica Bode, A, A, A, C; Jake Lessiter, A, A, A, A; Kate Powell, A, A, B, B; Emily Youlton, A, A, A, B; Joe Pippa-Harding and A, A, B, B; Ellie Burridge, A, A, A, B.
