TRADERS at Camborne’s Trevithick Market have pulled together following vandalism at the site last month by repairing the damage and preparing a programme of Halloween tricks and treats to put them back on the map.

Anyone visiting the market, just behind Argos in Trevithick Road, on Saturday, October 31, will be invited to join the fun. Plans include a vampire killer rat race, a spider hunt, gory injuries make-up - like face painting but a hundred times scarier, a Halloween-themed fancy dress competition and a VIP guest from a faraway kingdom blanketed in snow.

The market is home to a vast array of stalls offering a diverse mix of goods from Cornish silver, fancy dress and antiques, to E-cigarettes and floristry, medieval armour and t-shirt printing to photography, computer services and second hand children’s clothes and accessories. At its heart is the cafe.

“We were all really disheartened when we saw the mess left by the vandals,” explained chairman of the market committee, Paul Gee. “So, we decided to organise a seasonal event to re-launch the market and show people we’re back on track and fully open again.”

All the traders are getting involved. The day before the event they’ll be decorating the building in a suitably spooky style and several of them have some extra tricks up their sleeves. The cafe will offer a special menu for the event with Halloween cup cakes, devilish drinks and green mashed potato as the dish of the day.

In anticipation of the fun, all shoppers who buy goods at the market from now until Halloween will be entered into a raffle, which will be drawn on October 31.
