Local landlord Coastline Housing is running a campaign to bring some festive warmth into the lives of some of its most vulnerable and lonely customers.

Staff are asking local families to write out an extra Christmas card this year that features a heart-warming message or story and send it into the Coastline Christmas card drive.

The cards will be given to a selection of residents at Miners Court in Redruth, Coastline’s Extra Care scheme for older people or those with a disability, to bring some Christmas cheer.

Joanna Hopkins, business manager, said: “Loneliness is something that older people can be very affected by. It often hits even harder during the festive period when many people are affected by isolation due to the loss of friends and family, or perhaps even the loss of mobility.

“If local families would like to take the time to write out an extra card this year for an elderly person in their community who is suffering from loneliness, we would really appreciate it. If any children want to create a hand-made card to send in, even better.”

This year’s campaign follows on the success of a Christmas card drive last year which saw some fantastic cards, many hand-made by local children, flooding in to Miners Court and bringing much joy to the residents there.

Coastline asks that cards do not include any personal details or money, just a friendly message or story to bring a smile to someone’s face.

Cards should be sent to Coastline Christmas card drive, Miners Court, Miners Row, Redruth, Cornwall, TR15 1NJ.
