Firefighters rescued a man from his car after it became trapped by floodwater last night at Deep Lane in Four Lanes, near Redruth.

A full water rescue team from Tolvaddon, Falmouth and Penzance was sent to the scene just before 9pm, after the vehicle became stranded in two feet of flood water when its engine cut out.

A fire service spokesperson said: "The male driver was assisted uninjured from the car by fire crews.

"Due to the limited access to the incident location the vehicle had to be left in situ by the fire service. Highways have been informed of this incident and are closing the road concerned."
