A restraining order made against a Camborne man to keep him away from his mother and stepfather’s home or from visiting their home town of Hayle, had been breached by him several times Truro magistrates heard.

Jack Keane, 26, of Carnarthen Street, pleaded guilty to a number of breaches and asked for others to be taken into account. He had committed them by being found in Hayle, failing to comply with a curfew, and shoplifting.

Alison May, for the CPS, said the order was made in December to protect Linda Keane and Colin Shears. Keane had already admitted to two earlier breaches.

The court heard that Keane removed the tag put in place for his curfew and when he should have been at home had been seen drinking in Camborne. When officers visited his home to replace the tag he told them to take it away.

His solicitor Deborah Von Kohler said he suffered from a number of disorders and often felt people were taking advantage of him, getting him to do things and then he would be the one caught. He had simply been unable to cope with the tag put on his ankle.

Keane was sent to prison for 25 weeks, and had to pay £13 compensation and £215 costs and charges.
