Police are appealing for witnesses after a teenage gang assaulted another teenage boy whilst attempting to steal his phone.

The assault took place on Thursday, March 10 when the group of three young males aged between 15 and 18-years-old, assaulted a teenage boy and attempted to take his phone.

The incident took place between 3.10pm and 3.30pm on the footpath between Cranberry Road and Trehane Road whilst the teenager was walking home from school.

Police would like to speak to anyone who used the footpath around that time, in particular, anyone who may have seen a group of three young males in the area.

One of the males was described as wearing a black hooded top with the hood down, grey jogging trousers and a baseball cap and another was wearing a white long sleeved top. All were about 5’ 9” and of slim to average build.

Acting Detective Sergeant Jon Viant said: “Although this is an isolated incident, I would like to remind the public to be careful and vigilant when using secluded paths especially if you are in possession of high value technology items that are visible.”
