A trip to Singapore by year ten students from Camborne Science and International Academy has been hailed “an amazing success” by visit leader Sarah Doolin,

“We’re very proud of the exchange programme between NUS High School and CSIA which provides outstanding opportunities for our students every year,” she said. “Visiting a school specialising in maths and science, located in a country which is renowned for their advancements in these subjects, was invaluable, challenging and very inspiring.”

The group were met with a warm welcome and immediately began their jam-packed itinerary of cultural and educational activities. Put together by NUS High School, this included a visit to Singapore City Gallery, a tour around the NEWater Visitor Centre, Singapore Science Centre and the NUS Natural History Museum. “All of the visits developed our students’ knowledge and understanding of subjects which they study passionately at CSIA,” said Sarah.

As well as numerous visits, a large part of the programme was the exchange process which allowed CSIA students to form "buddies" from NUS. “This involved attending key lessons of maths and science to showcase their style of study and a whole host of extracurricular activities,” added Sarah.

A key highlight of the trip was the home-stay which saw the students stay with their buddy and experience life from their perspective. Joe Emery said, “It was brilliant to be immersed in their way of live, enjoying family meals, exploring the city and seeing the sights.”

The students then regrouped to spend the day at Universal Studios on Sentosa Island, “a real treat” and a particular highlight of their visit to Singapore.
