Creative children from Perranporth School are being challenged to transform building site hoardings into eye-catching works of art as part of a national competition.

Pupils aged four to 11 have been working with Taylor Wimpey Exeter to brighten up the perimeter hoardings surrounding the leading local housebuilder’s Parc Hendrawna development in the town.

Their handiwork, which has a beach theme, will be submitted into the Ivor Goodsite art contest, organised by the Considerate Constructors Scheme.

Parc Hendrawna site manager, Adam Bishop, who has been working with the youngsters to create the competition entry, said: “We’re always keen to strengthen our links with the local community, and with Perranporth School being right next door to our development, entering the Ivor Goodsite hoarding competition seemed like too good an opportunity to miss.

“It’s a great chance for the children to put their artistic talents to the test and, with any luck, win some fantastic prizes for the school. By working together, we have also been able to educate the youngsters about the importance of staying safe near building sites.”

Headteacher, Alistair Johnson, said: “Children from across the school have been busy planning, designing and painting their entry for the competition. They have enjoyed this opportunity to show off their creative talents and are excited about the prospect of seeing their finished piece.”
