The weather didn’t dampen the fun at Duchy College Rosewarne, as over 2,000 people enjoyed the college’s annual open day on Sunday.

The annual event at the campus just outside of Camborne, provided an opportunity to explore the site, find out more about local wildlife, explore the nursery, get "hands on" with all sorts of creatures and enjoy some great food, including a delicious range of vegan cakes.

Head of campus, Carol Knight, said: “Our open day was a real team effort and I would like to say a massive ‘thank you’ to everyone who has had an input with the planning, organisation and running of the event, which was a huge success, despite the dreary weather.

“We are all lucky to work on a beautiful campus at Rosewarne and this event is a fantastic opportunity to find out more about what we do and the stunning countryside around Cornwall. Our staff and students were excellent ambassadors and greeted over a thousand people who visited us for a free day out.”

Visitors were able to get hands on with some of the animals that call Duchy College home; there was also a butterfly walk, pond dipping, craft sales, digger challenge, farm tours and tractor and trailer rides.

Duchy College offers both full- and part-time courses across its sites in Stoke Climsland and Rosewarne, including university courses, in agriculture, animal management, business, childcare, countryside and conservation, forest school, equine studies, food, construction plant, outdoor pursuits, public services, sport and skills for life.

Carol added: “We are proud to be a part of the community at Camborne and hopefully this was a great opportunity for people who live locally to see the world wide opportunities that can be achieved through Duchy College Rosewarne.”
