Over 150 tents, assorted camping chairs and numerous sleeping bags and mats have been rescued by Cornwall’s firefighters from the Glastonbury festival site and will be sold in aid of charity on Saturday, July 23.

The camping equipment left behind after the music festival was collected from the Glastonbury site in partnership with Santander and Cornwall Fire and Rescue firefighters from Tolvaddon and Hayle earlier this month, with the help and support from sponsors of Dash Group van rental, Low Cost Storage and Carters Packaging.

The discarded equipment will go on sale at bargain prices at Hayle Rugby Club between 10am and 2pm on the 23rd, with proceeds going to the Fire Fighters Charity. Firefighters will also be on hand to give advice on staying safe outdoors this summer, the dangers of barbecues and carbon monoxide poisoning.

Last year, the crew raised over £6,000 from a similar sale and hope to raise just as much this year.

Firefighter Jamie Hollow said: “This year we have over 150 tents, ranging from one person pop up tents to 12 person family tents, along with lots of accessories such as camping chairs, double mattress and sleeping bags. The collection, clean up and now the sale would not have been possible if it wasn't for the support from Dash Group van rental, Low Cost Storage and Carters Packaging who loaned us a van and a storage container. If you plan on attending the sale, please get there early, as everything was sold within an hour last year.”
