The red carpet was rolled out for the year 11 students from Camborne Science and International Academy at their end of year prom.

Principal, Ian Kenworthy, paid tribute to an “outstanding” cohort saying: “An amazing evening was had by all and our students, as always, were a credit to our academy.”

The prom was held at Tregenna Castle with over 200 students arriving in fancy frocks and sharp suits to a huge crowd of family, friends and staff for an evening of glitz and glamour. Arriving in an imaginative array of ways, from sparkling sports cars, a giant hummer, vintage vehicles, VW camper van, an old American police car with sirens blaring, super-stretch limos, a fleet of side-car motorbikes and even a haulage lorry.

“Our students joined us for an evening of celebration for what has been a wonderful five years,” said Mr Kenworthy. “The event always creates such a sense of excitement and it certainly lived up to everyone’s expectations. Having taken months to plan by the prefect team, the students organised everything from the venue and theme to their menu and music.”

Students and staff enjoyed a three-course meal before filling the dance floor. “Since joining our academy, our students have experienced and achieved so much and it was a pleasure to share in their well-deserved celebrations," said assistant principal, Naomi Godolphin. "We are looking forward to welcoming the majority of the year group back to our VI Form.”

Mr Kenworthy added: “As we watched them arrive, we were reminded of just how far they’ve come over the last five years. It was such a special evening for the academy and one that we and the students will always remember.

“Our students have been superb throughout their time with us, so committed to their studies and determined to reach their potential. They have made lifelong memories at CSIA and we would like to wish all of our students every success.”
