There were celebrations and cake at the Gooseberry Bush Day Nursery in Camborne recently when it marked its 25th anniversary.
Originally situated in Camborne Community School, the nursery first opened its doors on September 24, 1991. To celebrate its special birthday the nursery, now at Rosemellin, had an Alice in Wonderland themed party/funday.
Current and previous children attended with their parents and enjoyed, roundabouts, a steam engine, face painting a performance by a magician and many more activities.
Heather Modrate, a parent form the nursery, also had a sponsored head shave to support the Sunrise Centre at the Royal Cornwall Hospital at Treliske where nursery manager Gill Smith is currently being treated for cancer.
Gill said: “ Losing your hair through chemotherapy is one thing but doing it voluntarily to raise money for a good cause is quite something else. I think Heather is amazing.”
