Police are appealing for witnesses to a serious collision between a car and a bus near Redruth yesterday [30 May] which left a woman critically injured.

Emergency services were called at 5.40pm following the collision between the Temsa MD9 34-seater coach and a blue Citroen C3 on the A393 at Burncoose.

The Citroen driver, a 20-year-old woman from Redruth, sustained a serious head injury and was taken to Treliske Hospital. She was later transferred to Derriford Hospital in Plymouth where she remains in a critical condition.

The coach was carrying 13 passengers, all on holiday in the area. One passenger and the male driver sustained minor injuries.

The road was closed for eight hours and 45 minutes while officers carried out an examination of the scene and the vehicles were recovered.

Officers from the Alliance Roads Policing Team are investigating the collision and are appealing for any witnesses to the incident to contact them via 101@dc.police.uk or by phone on 101, quoting log number 674 of 30/05/18.
