A Royal Navy engineer from Hayle is to star in a new fly-on-the-wall TV documentary series that starts tomorrow.
Jason Farnsworth, 20, is one of the characters that features in the major documentary about life onboard the Royal Navy aircraft carrier HMS Illustrious which is returning from its deployment to the Indian Ocean.
Six one-hour programmes have been made, which follow the crew's progress as they cope with the demands of a rigorous training package off the Devon coast in January before leaving the UK for the Mediterranean and the Indian Ocean.
Jason is a Weapon Engineer and has been serving onboard HMS Illustrious for nine months.
He said: "I was a bit nervous about being filmed at first, but quickly got used to having the cameras around. I hope all my friends back at home manage to watch the programme as it should give them an idea of what life on board is like."
Jason attended Camborne School and joined the Royal Navy in 2006. HMS Illustrious is his first ship and he has already visited eight countries since joining the Royal Navy.
Kate Jackson, from Granada TV who has led the production team of three said: "It has been a fascinating experience filming a floating community that is also training for war. The public can take a sneaky peak at this unique environment".
The series, called Warship', starts tomorrow on Channel 5.
