The parish of St Martin and St Meriadoc, Camborne, are developing a new project for their already successful Street Pastors Team.
They have noticed that there are a large number of young people out on the streets in the early hours of the morning.
The new project, jointly funded by the police and Camborne Street Pastors, will provide a drop-in for these young people.
The parish church will be used as a suitable and welcoming environment for children and young people who have no other place to go.
Manned by fully trained and CRB checked church youth workers, between the hours of 9:30pm and 2:30pm on a Friday night, the church will offer shelter to those the street pastors going out at night invite back.
The aim is to run the project for a year, with the intention of continuing it permanently afterwards depending on the statistical data the police will provide showing the impact of this latest project.
