A renewable energy firm based in Tolvaddon has been named as one of the first in the UK to pioneer the Governments multi-billion pound Green Deal initiative.
Enact Energy CEO John Egan met with Climate Change Minister Greg Barker in London this week to sign an agreement with the Government, which will see it and 21 other companies become the first UK Green Deal providers.
The Green Deal is the governments plan to improve the nations draughty homes at no upfront cost, which will see Enact and the other Green Deal providers offer energy efficiency packages to consumers when the scheme launches later this year.
The government believes up to 26 million homes could be eligible under the Green Deal, creating some 65,000 new jobs.
