Tehidy Country Park Café re opens on May 1 with brand new management and a brand new ethos.
Lucy Galbraith, who has taken over the lease, has realised a life long dream to have her own café in Cornwall selling Cornish produce with an environmentally friendly twist.
Lucy, who grew up in Cornwall and trained as a chef at Cornwall College Camborne, just down the road from Tehidy, has sailed around the world using her chef's skills but her heart was always here in Cornwall. She asked her friend and business partner Fiona Stearn to join her in the venture and immediately came back home to spend time researching the project.
Lucy says of the venture, "The ethos of the new café is recognising it's a local concern - local people using the facility on family days out. The café will cater for all, with basic, good quality home baking including cakes and scones as well as soups, sandwiches and hot meals such as chilli. This will all be produced using local produce wherever possible, including local fish, Cornish brie, Callestick Farm ice cream and coffee from the Cornish Coffee Company."
The café is also environmentally friendly, using only 100% biodegradable packaging made from corn starch for its new take away service - meaning visitors can stock up with a picnic at the café and take it with them to enjoy the sights and sounds of Tehidy Country Park without worrying about damaging the environment.
The Tehidy Country Park Café will now also be open for longer, 9.30am-5pm and will be selling delicious breakfast rolls for early birds with local bacon and free range eggs amongst the good morning fillings.
For more information about the café call Lucy on 01209 610094, or why not pay her a visit and try some delicious dishes. Tehidy Country Park Café will be open daily from 1st May, 9.30am-5pm.
