The Lizard Lifeboat Station has got well and truly in to the Christmas spirit during the first ever carolaire held in their new building.

Landewednack School Choir and St Keverne Male Voice choir entertained a packed boathouse with a collection of Christmas carols and medleys.

A separate service was also conducted by Rev Deride Mackrill and Rev Steve Swann aboard the lifeboat Rose lifeboat, during which lifeboat operations manager Ned Nuzum real aloud the Irish lifeboat poem “Another Rescue”. As the evening drew to a close onlookers were given a treat as members of the lifeboat crew and shore crew donned their Christmas hats to perform a song they had been secretly practicing with the help of Landewednack School's music teacher Judith Green.

Seasonal refreshments and mulled wine were then served in the crew room throughout the evening and the event was hailed as a great success.

Paul Triggs, musical director of St Keverne Male Voice Choir, said: “We feel very privileged to have been asked to perform at the lifeboat station's first ever carolaire. It was a delight to take part in this unique event inside such a fantastic building.

“The whole evening was brilliant and we would be honoured to be asked to perform there again.”

The lifeboat station has thanked Phil Greet for providing the PA sound system, Travis Perkins for donating a generator and the lighting for the evening, Judith Green and the Landwenack School Choir, the members of St Keverne Male Voice Choir, Rev Deride Mackrill and Rev Steve Swann.
