This year’s free firework display at Swanpool Beach will be in support of breast cancer research and care.

Taking place on Friday, September 20, the fireworks will be let off by the Cornish Fireworks Co from a barge floating off the beach and are promised to be a “spectacular display” to wow the crowds.

On the beach and at Hooked on the Rocks (formerly known as Indaba on the Beach) Swamp Circus will be performing circus skills, including fire throwing and juggling.

The Swanpool Fun Bouncer on the beach will also be open for children to burn up energy. All the activities will start at approximately 6.30pm and the fireworks will begin when darkness falls.

Members of Pink Wig Events will be collecting for Breast Cancer Campaign and local breast cancer causes, with any money raised going towards research into earlier diagnosis and better treatments. Some will also go to St Michael’s Hospital at Hayle, where breast surgery is routinely undertaken.

The beach car park will be open, with a donation from the takings to be made to the campaign.

Sally Hicks-Wood, from Pink Wig Events, told the Packet: “We are delighted that the fireworks are in aid of breast cancer this year.

“Our Pink Wig collectors will be out in force on the evening and we hope to raise much needed funds.

“The people of Falmouth have taken our cause to heart and I’m sure this event will be no different. We look forward to seeing everyone there.”

Swanpool Beach café will be open throughout the evening serving hot food, drinks and ice creams, and Hooked on the Rocks will be serving bouillabaisse and focaccia bread from its terrace, in addition to its all its usual restaurant meals.
